I gave my speech…

The teacher really like what I had to say. I had 3 other students come up to me afterwards and tell me they really liked it, as-well.

One guy said he didn’t know the hdd speed was so important. A girl told me she liked my dweabness - which was kinda awkward… Another girl asked me questions about her Dell laptop and how it compared to HP…

So, I guess it went well.

Some of the students took notes as I was talking. I didn’t say half the stuff I wanted to… I forgot to mention a lot of important things, oh well…

So that went pretty well. The public speaking teacher didn’t give me any homework (yay) but the English teacher did… and so did Mr. Haga (math teacher). At least I understand everything I have to do. I hate leaving thinking, “man, I don’t understand what I have for homework.” Nothing stresses me out more than not understanding what my homework assignments are, rawr.

I have to write a poem and start on a large “descriptive” story for English. The poem, no problem. Writing a huge story on a shot event, problem. I just want to write up the ideas and concepts of what happened; that’s just how I like to write. I don’t wan’a have to take one minute of my life and write an hour’s worth of content on it. That’s basically what she wants us to do. My English teacher wants us to be as detailed as possible….. not sure how that’s going to turn out. But, it’s not due ’til the 11th….

My math teacher is a pretty nice guy but his class is too advanced for me. I’m having a hard time in math. I got A’s today on two of last week’s paper and should have gotten a “0″ on the third item, but he said if I finish it out before next class, he’d let me get a grade on it.

I was one of many that got confused on that 3rd assignment.

Oh well.

Fortunately, my math homework was made very clear to me today so I shouldn’t have a problem completing it.

Not much more homework than that. I have a few other basic assignments for a few other classes but they’ll  be easy…

Anyhow, I need to start on my homework so…. TTYL…

I’ll let you all know how I did. At lease I got most of my homework done. I didn’t do any of my English because my account wasn’t fully activated so I wasn’t able to log on to the assignment. The teacher said she’d activate my account but she never did.

I had 11244212323454 years worth of math to do. Dad helpped me so I was able to finish it up in only 2 hours.

I’m pretty nervous about my speech; I’ll be talking about the 3 most important things to look for when buying a laptop, which will probably futher confirm the wonderings (is that a word?) of my fellow students - yes, absolute geekazoid…

Anyhow, class is starting so I need to run.

I just feel like blogging a lot today.

Anyhow, I just finished my public speaking class - it didn’t go so swell.

My public speacking teacher is really nice and on Thursday he kept complimenting my “speach” (he made everyone give a speech right there on the fly). So, I gave a speech about careers and he REALLY liked it! Well, at the end of that day (Thuresday), he told 5 other student (and everyone with their last name starting with “S”) that they had to prepare a longer speech for the class for Tuesday (today).

Well, I didn’t hear him say anything about people with the last name ending with “S”. I just heard him call off the few students. So when he called my name up today, I was pretty shocked. I told him I had no idea I was suppose to do a speech today - I have nothing prepared. After explaining the confusion, he said he totally understood and that he would not give me a zero but I must have a speech by Thursday.

*sigh*

That only gives me one full day to crank something out unlike the three full days the other students had. But I guess that’s better than getting a zero, ha.

Anyhow, I need to scoot on over to my 3 hour math class…

I have a lot of homework……….

And, on top of that, she gave me very little homework. It’s not really something I can do right now though. I have to keep a chart of all of my expenses. It’s supposed to get us to manage our money or something. But, the only things I buy are weird stuff like domains, hosting plans, new programs, and fancy gadget accessories. I guess this chart will display my geekness.

Anyhow, next class doesn’t start for another hour or so, which is totally awesome - very excited about this unexpected break. So, I figured I’d post a quick update.

Did you notice my cool zannel thing up on top? Pretty sweet ride, huh? Yeah well, that little widget allows me to post little mini threads instantly from my BB. Why not just blog it? Well, this is much faster and less formal than blogging. Not that my blogs are ever “formal” but you get the point. *ahem* moving on…

Check back often, guys. Wicked-awesome-Joe (the one with the dumb boots - inside joke) and I are further developing this blog. You will see a nifty (<<- I don’t really like that word) header with sweet-ride-widget/app/things.

It’s not as bad as I thought it would be; even though I’m sure it’s going to get a LOT harder!

I figure, once I meet a few people and start really getting into the swing of things, I’ll probably enjoy it.

I guess I failed to mention in my last entry about college that Mom and Dad took me out to a nice restaurant after I passed my 4 and a half hour test.

This is for Grandpa’s benefit mainly but I wanted to show you what I ate.

Anyhow, the main reason I’m posting this entry is to display my first official school assignment. This was not homework but something we had to write up in a few minutes right there and then.

I’m going to post this just as i handed it to the teacher. So, you’ll see the same mistakes she will/has, ha. I only had about a half hour… in other words, there wasn’t much time to edit my mistakes. So be critical; let me know where and how I messed up, idk…

HOME

To me, “home” is a place where one feels comfortable, loved, and [something else].

I use to live in Cool, CA. Yes, Cool, a little town up in the northern Sierra foothills. The town was no more than 1,000 residents strong; not quite big enough to be called a city but not too small either.

We (as in, my family and I) lived on a seven acre piece of property filled with huge oak trees and golden knee high grass. This is where I grew up; I lived here for 6 years and loved every day of it. Dad bought the property from a bank and was required to improve the value of the house within a certain time period. Right away Dad and I (only being 10) started breaking down walls and pulling up floors. We were remodeling our house. Dad gave me all the scrap wood from the house and told me I could make a tree fort just as long as I didn’t hammer any nails into the tree. Within the first year, my two younger brothers and I scoped out our large piece of land for that ideal oak tree. Taking our hammers in one hand and our boards in the other, we started sculpting a massive tree fort – or so it seemed massive to such small kids. Finally, after about a year’s worth of work, it was complete. The tree fort was 9 to 13 feet off the ground and it consisted of one large 8’ by 8’ main floor, several mini and much higher floors (which resembled bedrooms, in a way), and a “water hose jungle.” This “jungle” was basically half a dozen hoses strung up to the branches and tied to hang in every which way. We could literally pull a “Tarzan” from one side of the huge tree to the other. We had a lot of fun building our tree fort that summer. In a way, that tree fort itself was “home” to me. I spent the better part of my days up there.

The next summer, we bought a trampoline, which was later renamed “the Ring of Death.” We set it up near another enormous oak and again, tied hoses to this tree, too (we had a lot of extra hoses there). The Ring of Death was probably our second favorite place to play. We would climb our oak has high as we would dare and then leap from its branches landing safely on our “Ring of Death.” I know, “landing safely on a Ring of Death” sounds slightly oxymoronic …and crazy …but this is how we perceived “fun.” A favorite game of ours was to see who could make it all the way around the tree. Gripping a trusty hose hanging from the limbs above, we’d fling ourselves off the trampoline, around the tree, and (hopefully) back on the other side of the trampoline, which was a very sporting game since such a feat was rarely accomplished. It required the right amount of momentum to stick the perfect landing.

These are just some of the things that made this place so memorial and so… “home.”

I now live here in TN and I hope to move back to “Home” soon. If not that exact location, than at least the next door down.

When I think of home, I think of my seven acres in CA.

And there you have it. :D

Our 6 week trip is almost at an end.

We are now in TN and we will be home by tonight.

Yes, we are home now. Our trip was amazing - on the road for 6 weeks!

I’m glad I was able to blog as much as I did. It’ll help preserve some of our memories.

I also wanted to mention, I passed my college entry test by a long shot. I especially got high marks in Language Arts (94%), which really surprised me. My spelling still needs a bit of work though… I failed math…. big time (50% of it). :D It was all algebra - at least they said I past pre-algebra but I have to start with algebra-1, oh well, could have been worse…

My classes start Thursday. I have a 3 hour Monday, 8 hour Tuesday, and an 8 hour Thursday - I know, that’s a lot…

13 credits…

I’m taking Math, Language Arts, Public-Speaking, and Computer Science.
