Good Week

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

This has been a good week.

I got an “A” on both my tests. Yes, math, too (yay) and I didn’t have English class today.

This is what happened:

I got out of my College Success class early so, fortunately, I had just enough time to eat my apple. As I was eating my apple, I was feeling very disappointed that I didn’t finish my English assignment (due to a lack of time) and would therefore get and “F”. After finishing my apple, I walked into my class room with my head sorta ducked much like our moron dog does… DID… after doing a naughty deed such as peeing on a computer… Moms- computer. So I slink into class in a guilty manner and sit at my desk. The teacher looks at us all and instead of asking us if we all did our [INSANITY LARGE amount of] homework, she says, “alright class, let’s all go over to the brand new auditorium to hear so-and-so speak.”

Whoa, are we going to spend our class time listening to someone speak?! Ok, I’m cool with that. So instead of going over the homework that was DUE TODAY, we sat and listen to some guy talk about politics. He’s a lawyer of some kind and he wanted to inform us about the current political system. It was a great topic but, oh my gosh, I’ve never heard a dryer speech. He read straight from his note the whole time, he didn’t make eye contact but once, and he kept pausing as if he was losing his place in his paper.  Then when it came to Q&A, he didn’t answer any of the questions. His answer was the same almost every time. “I’m not at liberty to say” or “I’m not sure I understand your question.” It was just really boring but I decided to take notes anyhow. He was so disorganized that I found it very tough to note anything in a structured way. So, he finally finishes and we get out just as it’s time for Public Speaking. So, I was able to totally skip over English and now I have time to complete my assignments (yay).

I get into Public Speaking and my teacher asks if anyone attended the speech in the auditorium. I and a few others, raised our hands. He ask us how we liked it (he wasn’t there for it). We all told him the same thing. So, I know it wasn’t just me. Mr. Barton (Speaking teacher) was surprised. He said, “that really is too bad but if you write up a complaint just for me on what you felt about the speech, I’ll give you extra credit for this class.” (Woohoo!)

So, not only did I not have to get an F in English but I also got extra credit for taking notes!

Unfortunately, he told me he wants me to give another speech Tuesday, ha. But it can be on whatever topic. I think I’ll talk about the Internet…

So, today went pretty well.

Two days ago (16th) was also a very good day. That’s the day we bought a PS3! Wooohooo! I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had a chance to mess with it much, ha.

And yesterday was the day my tablet came in. I’ve used it all day for school and it sure is handy!!!

I’ll post pictures later.

{click “My Laptop” on the right sidebar there to see it}—>>

I have LAB to do now and I should prepare for my speech…

Math - wooohooo!

Got and A on my really tough math test!

I have Math again now.

I post later tonight!

Classes

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Well, my Computer Science class is WAY too easy so I feel I could be spending my time better somewhere else. I just kinda sit there helping the person next to me which is slightly annoying but entertaining at the same time. Oh well, at least I have a great professor, Mr. Nelson

I got an “A” today in Public Speaking. Mr. Barton is a very nice old man and he is a great teacher. His public specking class is certainly my favorite. I also like my fellow students in that class. They’re funny and as “stressful” as a public speaking class may seem, they’re all pretty light and sympathetic, as it seems. Some of them get very nervous but as a whole, the students are pretty good speakers -and listeners. I always have at least one student ask me a computer related question, which I’m only too happy to answer. -fun class…

English class - it’s ok… I like language arts a lot but I don’t really care for this class. I don’t hardly know any of the student and although the teacher (Mrs. Baxter) is extremely nice, she doesn’t really explain what the homework is all the time, but that could be more my problem…

College Success… this is my least favorite class. I see this as almost a complete waste of time. Our assiments are things like: Go watch a play and write about it, keep track of all your expenses, fill out a chart on how much you drink, and so on… Like I really have time to go watch a stupid play.   :P   Oh, I passed my drinking test, by the way.    ;)

Anyhow, I don’t really care for it. I see it as a waste of time. I dont feel it helping me have a “successful college experience” or whatever.  Yeah,  anyhow…

I do have a pretty good teacher in College Success though. Ms. James is pretty laid back, which is cool; helps me get my mind off the pointlessness of the class, haha - ok, I’m done complaining.   :D

Ah, one more to report, Math…

For the record, I absolutely HATE math. If I become President, I’ll have it removed from the schools. But!

Mr. Haga, my Math professor, is the best teacher in -probably the whole world. He’s extremely funny but also very serious, if need be. He’s down-to-earth and a very quick thinker; whether he’s answering question  #13 or responding to a smart-aleck joke, he delivers a satisfactory or hilarious reply in just moments! I’m *actually* learing in his class… Math makes sense after all, guys!    :P    Mr. Haga wins the “Best Teacher Award” and I’m not the only one to say that either. 3 other people have told me that he is the best math teacher they have ever had. So, in between him and my dad (Dad’s also very good at math) I shouldn’t have a problem finishing this class. I actually have Math in half an hour. I get me results from last weeks giant test. Like I said before, I have a feeling I didn’t do too well. But I blame that souly (SP?) on the lack of time. We only had 40 minutes ore so…

Anyhow, off to Math!

Poem

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

So the day went over pretty well I’d say. And for once, I don’t have an unbearable amount of homework.

I have a lot of reading but that’s pretty much it.

Well, I guess I should post my poem now. Just want to let you know, I think it sounds kinda lame and too girly or something. This is not the way I like to write but…. anything for an A.

Anyhow, the poem:

I am from L.E.D. Lights,
from Quaker Oats
and Batman Underwear by Fruit of the Loom.
I am from the golden Sierra foothills
(rippling, flowing at the wind’s touch).
I am from the star-thistle, the giant oaks.

I am from long drives, game nights,
and sculpting with Dad,
from Wright and Suarez.
I am from the banquet hall
and the bed & breakfast.
From, “Who loves you?”
and “Can we have Recess now?”

I am from “Search me, O God,
and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalms).

I am from the red-dirt hills
and the moist grainy beaches,
tostadas, beans, and rice.
From the pitted cherries of Mama’s canning,
I am from Grandpa’s butchered chickens
and Uncle Dale’s molten bronze.
I am from Mama’s cedar Hope Chest
and the closet full of adventures – I mean, shoes.

What do you think?

Math

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Wow, we got our grades from Tuesday’s quiz, today and I scored the highest in my class, which either means I’m really smart or my class is really stupid… not sure on that one.

I got a 95%, which isn’t great but it looked good up against all the others. :P

I was actually very surprised because some of the other students think quicker than I can when the class is asked to solve the questions markered onto the whiteboard. I don’t understand how I could have gotten the best score. Surely someone can top a 95%… idk…

We had a HUGE math tests today. Three times the size of Tuesday’s. This is the one that really counts and I think I messed a few up; but only because we had to get EVERYTHING done in 45 minutes…

I’m curious to see my grade on that.

Still, I have high hopes. I didn’t think I did all that well on the Tuesday’s test but it topped all the rest so…

Ok, I’ll post my poem later…

Today

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Ok, I’ll be posting my poem tonight since I got an “A” on it.

;)

My other English assignment was to write a story on a specific event. well, the teacher chewed that one to bits. Man-o-man, she had a lot to say about it. She said everything was grammatically correct and that I am an awesome writer and- I used very descriptive words but, …I was very disorganized and did not explain the situations very well. And you’ll see what she means when I post it, which I may do tomorrow. Now that I read over the assignment, I’d have to agree with most of what she said. I guess I didn’t put enough time into it. Oh well… I’ll probably get a “C” on it, which is really too bad…

Last week, my Public Speaking professor said I had to prepare a speech on the content of chapter one…

The chapter is LONG and boring and I was so busy doing my math, I had zero time to put into my speech. So, I stayed up later and worked on my speech from 1am ’til 2am. The chapter is so huge that I wasn’t able to read the whole thing so I had to fake my speech out and pretend to know what I was talking about. Well, I did and I must of accidentally said the right stuff cause he said that it was very good, gave me an “A”, and said this count for extra credit.

….that totally shocked me. I must be a good guessing-fake… If only investing an hour of work time with four hours of sleep produced these results with all of my classes….. time for math. later….

Same Ol’, Same Ol’

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Schools been kinda tough. I’ll blog my poem and some other stuff later.

Just wanted to update since I haven’t in a few days.

I have to give a speech about public speaking today, ouch…

Microsoft’s New Creation

Well, Microsoft is still in the game. They have created yet another amazing piece of equipment.

Introducing, Microsoft Surface.

I want one…

I can’t figure out the music at the beginning and end… something about mushrooms???

Wallet and College

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Well, things are hummin’ along pretty well so far.

I wrote my poem for English; I’ll post it once I get my grade on it. :P

Julia found my wallet today. Yes, the one with ALL that important stuff that got lost 2 months ago. So, I’m very glad for that.

I’ve been doin’ nothing but math for the last 3 days. What did you guys do over the weekend?

Alright, I have’ta run to class now. Seeya…..

(wow, this was a short entry.)

Public Speaking

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Quick update:

I gave my speech…

The teacher really like what I had to say. I had 3 other students come up to me afterwards and tell me they really liked it, as-well.

One guy said he didn’t know the hdd speed was so important. A girl told me she liked my dweabness - which was kinda awkward… Another girl asked me questions about her Dell laptop and how it compared to HP…

So, I guess it went well.

Some of the students took notes as I was talking. I didn’t say half the stuff I wanted to… I forgot to mention a lot of important things, oh well…

So that went pretty well. The public speaking teacher didn’t give me any homework (yay) but the English teacher did… and so did Mr. Haga (math teacher). At least I understand everything I have to do. I hate leaving thinking, “man, I don’t understand what I have for homework.” Nothing stresses me out more than not understanding what my homework assignments are, rawr.

I have to write a poem and start on a large “descriptive” story for English. The poem, no problem. Writing a huge story on a shot event, problem. I just want to write up the ideas and concepts of what happened; that’s just how I like to write. I don’t wan’a have to take one minute of my life and write an hour’s worth of content on it. That’s basically what she wants us to do. My English teacher wants us to be as detailed as possible….. not sure how that’s going to turn out. But, it’s not due ’til the 11th….

My math teacher is a pretty nice guy but his class is too advanced for me. I’m having a hard time in math. I got A’s today on two of last week’s paper and should have gotten a “0″ on the third item, but he said if I finish it out before next class, he’d let me get a grade on it.

I was one of many that got confused on that 3rd assignment.

Oh well.

Fortunately, my math homework was made very clear to me today so I shouldn’t have a problem completing it.

Not much more homework than that. I have a few other basic assignments for a few other classes but they’ll  be easy…

Anyhow, I need to start on my homework so…. TTYL…
