Jul. 18, 2007 - Random stuff…

Alright guys, I’m going to ask you all one more time.

What avatar should I use?

I like the old original tux but I’m kinda tried of him. SO, I made the new groovin’ Tux and most of you didn’t care for it. So, what do you think of this here, newest one?

It took me a while to make. Should I just go back to the original Tux?

SuperAngel really likes it! And so do both JocelynDixon and rjdjohn316.
I think SamIAm said she likes it too.

Ok guys, you all get a gold star if you click all of these links below!

It’s very important to be thinking about our financial futures!
If you could get some kind of business going now then you may not have to waste time starting one in the future. Now is the time to start one! Now is before we (as “young adults”) are paying big expenses such as, electricity, payments on our houses, payments on our cars, food, and so on)

Do you really want to waste time struggling financially? No, not for me. If I can generate a steady income before I leave home than I won’t have to worry about getting one when things are tough.

And there is no better way than doing it over the Internet!
Especially if you can make some kind of business that requires very little work such as a high traffic site that you can sell ad space on. If you spend the time now to build a site that people will WANT to go to, than you can sell lets say 20 ad spots at $70/month (very reasonable) you’ll have $1400/month coming in and you’re not even wasting time to go out to make it! Once you spend the time to put the site up, it’s up! And it’ll just continue to make you money! Now $1400/month isn’t a whole lot but it’s a start!
Think about it, if we are able to set up a steady income without having to work much, then that’ll free up our lives in a huge way! Sure, we’ll have to work hard to get it started. But if we can count on a check every month from our “little self making money maker” (try and say that ten time fast) then we can spend our time with our families, starting another business, taking college classes, becoming a missionary, you name it. We’ll have TIME and that’s the point. We HOMESCHOOLERS have time!

Ok, sorry to bore you all with that but Jocelyn posted a few of her goals so I thought I’d post one of mine.
:D
We’re going to be packing half a cow in our freezer soon. More on that later.
:D

Jul. 14, 2007 - Dear Chris…
The only point in this post is to respond to a few of Chris’s beliefs.
So, this post is mainly geared and is written to and for Chris. But I encourage everyone to comment their thoughts.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would pull your bible out, for I am going to be addressing several verses. It is important that you look up every one of these verses. I pray that you’ll read this with a clear mind and actually consider the fact that you might be wrong.

1. The co-existence issue
2. The flawed Christianity issue
3. The homosexual is not a sin issue

I’ve brought all of this to my dad and he has helped me with these responses.

First, off, the co-existence issue – you said that:

“It shows symbols from many different forms of worship including Islam, Judaism, Shinto, and Christianity. It is a symbol popularized by U2. It is a call for members of all creeds to live together in peace and harmony. In other words, to “Coexist”. I believe one day this will happen, and I plan to do my part to make it happen.”

As I think about this, Chris, you may be right. All of these religions may very well co-exist in harmony someday. However, the Christianity that would co-exist with all of these other religions in harmony would be an apostate form of true Christianity. In other words, true Christianity could never – and will never – co-exist in harmony with the others. You have to realize, Chris, that all the other religions deny the Lordship of Jesus Christ as described in the Protestant bible you claim to believe in. Jesus Christ and His disciples (those who wrote the New Testament) emphatically claimed that Jesus Himself was the only way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father but through Jesus Christ (Jn 14:6).

So here on Earth in this temporal realm, these different religions (including apostate Christianity as mentioned above) may find a way to co-exist peacefully amongst each other some day, but in the eternal realm, the only faith which will exist is the one that God (Jesus Christ) established – Christianity. Sadly, I guess it could be said that the others will also co-exist throughout eternity – but only in Hell (Matt 7:13, 14).

If you truly are a Christian your focus should not be to “do your part in getting all religions to co-exist”, your focus should be to advance the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Point two, Chris, is the flawed Christianity issue. You said that:

“I believe that Christianity as a religion, is deeply corrupt and flawed.”

I’m not quite sure what you mean by your statement but here are my thoughts on your remarks. Biblically, or from God’s perspective, God does not view Christianity as a religion – He views it simply as the Truth. Now if you mean that “Christiandom” (or the Christian community) has its flaws or is corrupt, then I can agree with you to some extent here. Let me explain what I mean.

1. Christiandom is made up of Christians who are imperfect, and thus the community of Christians is an “organism” that is imperfect and flawed because it is made up of individuals who are imperfect and flawed.
2. These flawed Christians hold to doctrines which don’t always agree with each other, and of course, two opposing views cannot both be right at the same time. Therefore, some doctrines within Christiandom must be wrong.
However, if we accept that God and His word are both inerrant and infallible and we further accept that Christianity was established and defined by God’s word, then Christianity cannot be flawed and corrupt as originally established by God and His word since both God and His word are perfect.

Issue number three, Chris, is the homosexuality issue. You said that:

“I believe that being gay is not a sin, but that being a practicing gay is a sin.”

Here are my thoughts on this: You are wrong on the first count but correct on the second. Being gay is a sinful state of existence. It’s a corrupt state of existence. It is a state of existence that is the direct result of the fall recorded in Genesis chapter 3. In this sense, homosexuality can be said to be “a natural result” of Adam’s sin. It is natural in this sense only. But if we want to talk about God’s ideal and the way God originally created man and the rest of creation, then homosexuality is not natural (aberrant). The bible always speaks of homosexuality (whether the state of or the act itself) as evil – an abomination to the LORD. (Lev 18: 22) The bible also describes homosexuality as something that God always judges or will ultimately judge as a wicked sin. (Genesis 19, Romans 1)

One more thought to keep in mind: no where in the bible does God’s word ever make the kind of distinction that your above statement has made, separating the state of being gay as opposed to the practice of being gay (condoning one and condemning the other).

I do agree with a few of your beliefs like pre-destination and Calvinism. So, don’t feel like we are all “against” you. The true goal in this is not to stunt you blog traffic by warning people against you or slam you publicly to make us look smart. But to come alongside you and help you. Please consider all that I have said and pray about it.

Paul

Jul. 8, 2007 - Random Picture/Video Day!

We are planting a salsa pot garden!

We’ve got a few peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers!

It was fun for the kids to be able to help.

Sorry the images are so blurry.

LOL, we used our Cherry Coke bottle to water the plants with.

Oooh, look at the sky.

Tada!

And that’s not even all of ‘em. There are a few more on the other side of the deck.

Dad bought a Badminton set! It is so much fun. I got some pictures of us setting it up.

It took us a while to set up.

But, at last it started looking like a net.

Beaver is trying to be a circus performer. :D

Finally! It was done!

So, they got to play it before it got dark.

Skateboard!!!

My good friend/neighbor, Hunter is a skate freak! And little by little he has taught me a few things. So I thought I’d share with you my newest trick; the fake-y shove-it while playing my DSLite with a hat on and a Tux shirt and a throwing knife all with a Philadelphia cream-cheese packet in my mouth! It’s very complicated. So stand back! :D

Jul. 4, 2007 - On The Road Again (still)! Oh, and HAPPY 4th OF JULY!

I’ve got lots of pictures for you all and even a few videos!
:D
Let me see if I can remember everything.
I think we left the 27th. Anyhow, we started on our way up to the Indianapolis area to meet with the Badgleys because their neighbor was going to host this huge “shin-dig”. I didn’t realize it was going to be as big as it was!

They had this huge balloon and they were giving rides!

I took these pictures from the Badgleys’ house. We weren’t quite ready to go over there yet.

While we were waiting to go over there, the Badgleys showed us their garden. It was pretty cool. Dad found some weird, wild herb in there that the Badgleys didn’t even plant. :D

Mom and Dad.

Dad and Mom.

Mom and Dad AND Levi!

I guess I could have chosen a better background, huh?

I resized them wrong. So, some are big and some are small.

LOL, Brea is so cute.

Everyone taking interest in the fuzzy chicken.

Makes me hungry for KFC!

Dad and Mr. Badgley talking.

We camped out on their yard with our tents! It was fun.

Then we looked at their new horses for a while.

We were all petting it.

And all was well, until…

Shaiya got bit! It made her bleed. This picture was taken a day later, after it healed some. But when she first got bit it looked pretty bad.

Ok, so now we decided to walk on over there. …Allowing me to get a lot closer shot of the balloon.

While we waited for one of the little golf carts, things, to come and pick us up (to drive to the top of the hill where the party was) Brea threw rocks in the culvert. :D

Ah, they had the BEST food there!!! Even MOM LIKED IT (shocker)!!!!!

And live music.

Ooo, cool looking guitar.

They had a really old tractor there. So, I took a picture of it.

Well, I guess a few pictures.

After that we all came back over to the Badgleys’ house and some friends of theirs came over, too.

They sang for us and played their guitar and banjo!

It was really cool!
But after all that and some ice cream they left and we headed on out to our tents for the night.
The next morning, we got up and Mrs. Badgley made the best omelett casserole and waffles. But after a while it was time to go. We still had a few hours to go ’til we got to the Dixons. So, we all said bye and piled into the car.
It’s so late that I unfortunately don’t have a lot of time or energy to write everything we did when we first got there. Mainly cause it was SO much. :D
But the Dixons wrote about our stay so I think I’ll just be lazy and link to them. :D
Though, I did take lots of pictures!

After getting there around 8pm we spent good time with their family until bed time. So, I didn’t get any pictures the first day. But, I did get lots of pictures the second day we were there!

Eric REALLY wanted me to pull out my throwing knife so he could throw it at their old unwanted cedar.

He’s pretty good. I really wanted Amanda to try it though. And she wouldn’t! She was more concerned about her “dignity” than throwing the knife. I mean, come on, what’s more dignified than throwing a knife? :D

So after showing how to do it…

a few times…

She decided to give it a shot! And as you can see it was a good try but just not enough “go”.
:D

After a few more tries, there was that perfect throw… SMACK!

She hit the tree! She posted lots of pictures of her getting it; you should take a look!

Then Jocelyn wanted to give a try.

And amazingly…

After a few tries…

She got it too! It took me several days before I figured it out and they all were making perfect shots within there 3rd and 4th tries!

After moving their goat cage so the goats could eat fresh grass…

We were back at it!

Then this loud plane flew REALLY close to the ground. So, I took a picture of it!

I got a random picture of their horses …I’m not sure why.

Yay, now pictures of my really cool sheath!

That I made, BTW. :D

See? I had to punch every one of those holes. With leather hole punch PLIERS. My hand was REALLY sore.

My super cool throwing knife. :D

As soon as I got home from the Dixons’ house, I started making a really cool belt to go with my really cool sheath!

The leather on the belt is too thick to punch so I screwed it together and took old computer parts including part of an old motherboard as nuts to anchor the screws down. :D

It looks like a little hobbits sword. :D

It fits me perfectly.

Pay no attention to the junk in the background. :D

Oh, yes, and this is a picture Jocelyn painted for me!

Is that not the coolest image of Tux ever painted!?!?! He looks a bit stuffed, eh? :D
It even has “ShatteringWindows” on it. And man, that is a cool window!

Wow, we had such a great time on that trip - it was so fun to see you all. Thank you Dixons and thank you Badgleys for being so hospitable.
Ok, everyone, I’m not sure when I’ll blog next, hopefully soon!

P.S. It looks like more people voted for the orginal happy-go-lucky Tux. So, I’ll put him back up in a little bit.

Alright this is going to be one short entry!
I just wanted you to know that I’m going to be leaving at 6am tomorrow (with a fully charged phone this time - AND the camera, Mom says!).
We’ll be seeing the Badgleys and the Dixons (sorry I don’t have time to link to anyone; I’m in a real rush)!
But let me leave you with:
What do you think I should have as my avatar?
The orginal happy-go-lucky Tux (I’m not sure why he’s got purple on him)?

Or the new “Dancin’ Groovin’ I’ve got a headache” Tux?

Does the new one make you a bit sick? Is he kind of anoying?
Please post your thoughts!
Vote!!!

See you when I get back!

Jun. 24, 2007 - All Aboard!
Ok, I’ve got quite a few pictures for you guys!
So, this might take a while to load but it’s well worth it. Just open the page and then go about commenting on my other blogs and when you come back, it should all be loaded. :D!!!

It was really cool seeing them hook up the engine.

The trip was beautiful!

That’s Julia’s fingure. :D

We followed this river most of the time, there and back.

From the very back of the train…

That would look cool in black and white.

More of the river

You guessed it, a bridge!

Same bridge

A cool dock/look-out thing/deck.

That’s Julia making her way through the train. They let us go from car to car.

I got a lot of really cool river shots

part of a train that is no longer used

These rail-road ties were laying along the track most of the ride.

Sorry I got so many pictures of the same area. The train was going slow and it was just too cool!

They had a few farms scattered throughout the hills.

Over a bridge we go.

That is so cool.

Lots of hills.

Once we got to the end of the line they let us get out for an hour and a half.

We had lunch there. It was really good!

They pulled the engine off what was the front of the train and stuck it on the “new” front.

See the little guy? Mom is almost 4 MONTHS! This picture is kinda funny to me. It reminds me of the Cingular ad campain “Raising the Bars.” Tallest to shortest. Almost
in a perfect line! LOL! :D

Mr. and Mrs. Marcum (and Luke and Dad).

At the rest stop, they had a museum. And it had this really neat model of a rail-road station.

Ok, now we’re heading back to the beginning.

Over the bridge we go …again!

That’s a great picture!

This tunnel was so cool. I was amazingly dark in there!

up high, on another bridge

The “junkyard”. (Why did they bring us through here?) That would look so good in black and white.

That too!

Mr. Marcum

I call this masterpiece, “The Speed”!

Julia.

Water.

More “Speed”!

Ok, that’s it for now!
We’ll be driving home tomorrow. So pray that we’ll have a safe trip!

Jun. 20, 2007 - We’re Home Now

…for a little bit.
We got home last night around 8pm (I think). But we’re leaving in about two hours for Asheville, NC. So, I can’t talk long.
I just wanted to update you all on our travels.
Two days ago (a day after my last post) we went to an Amish horse action! It was so COOL! And right outside of the building they had all these booths set up selling Amish “goods”!
It was so cool to see all the stuff they make. There was one guy there selling leather…and at such an awesome price! He was selling a good size roll of thick leather for $5 and an assorted roll of all different sized leather cord for $3! I bought both and a pair of leather punch pliers. All the way home from like 11am to 8pm I work edon a sheath for my throwing knife. I cut out the pieces and punched out all the holes and threaded it all together with the leather cord. At the end of the day my hands were SO sore from squeezing the pliers that they were throbbing. But it was well worth it! Now I have a really well-made. quality throwing knife sheath. I finished it just as we were pulling into our neighborhood. It cost me nine hours of work, $12 worth of material, and a throbbing hand. That was well worth it!

:D
I’ll post pictures of it later.
Anyhow, we’re off to NC and after that MAYBE we’ll go up and see the Dixons!
Last time I was there, Jocelyn painted me a REALLY cool picture of Tux and a really cool window. I’ll post a picture of it as soon as I get back!
And Joe, I have not forgotten about the geocentric post. I will get to it.
:D

Mrs. Novak, I’m sorry I never got around to reading that entry. I’ll read it on my way down (sorry).
If anyone NEEDS to get a hold of me while I’m gone, (Eric!) I’ll have my cell. Email me for the number: pauljr@thehomeschoolmagazine.com

And Benjamin, you can call me tonight if you want.
You too, Joe.

I’ll post about NC when I get back!. And I’m NOT forgetting the camera this time!
:D
Thanks, guys for commenting on my blog even though I haven’t had much of a chance to comment back on all of yours. Your comments are well appreciated!

Jun. 17, 2007 - Finally Resting!

We just got back from the Amish Country!
It was beautiful! We spent all day out and about with Mrs. Bullivant. It is SO funny to listen to her boys fake an American accent. They sounded like robots. :D And then they wanted me to fake an English accent. I thought I did quite well but the only response I got from them all was endless laughter!

LOL

I guess I’m not all that good at it. Oh well. :D

I wish I would have remembered the camera. Mrs. Bullivant brought hers. So, I’ll have to wait ’til she gets back home for her to email them to us (then I can post them)!

Swing by my mom’s blog. She wrote a post about some of the many the people we’ve met.

We’re now in our bed-and-breakfast. So, we are going to get some sleep and hit the road for home tomorrow. We’ll be home for few days (2?) but then we are going to Asheville, NC for almost a week with the Marcums (my siblings’ best friend is Mr. Marcum!! He is so funny) - can’t wait.

I am now on the first page of HSGold!!!!

YAY!

:D

Jun. 17, 2007 - Happy Father’s Day, Dads!!!
Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads! Especially mine! He is a great dad! He knows the Word very well. He really wants to be a part of our hobbies and interests. He plays chess with Luke multiple times a day some days. He’ll listen to me speak “geek” and most the time I know he doesn’t have a clue as to what I’m talking about.
:D
That really is the coolest thing about homeschooling. We don’t homeschool because we think we’re going to get smarter than our public school peers. We homeschool because of the relationships!

But today is *better* than just “Father’s Day” because today is also my parents’ 18th anniversary. 18 years is a great accomplishment! In my personal opinion, they are the best parents ever!
:D

YAY, Mom and Dad!
Thank you for getting married 18 years ago!
(’Cause I wouldn’t be here)
:D

Anyhow, have a great day and HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Jun. 16, 2007 - Hey Guys!

I’m sorry I haven’t had time to respond to your comments.
I really appreciate you all commenting and I’ll respond as soon as I get the chance.
I thought I’d post a quick entry, however, to keep you up-to-date.

We JUST got back from the PA SEARCH Convention. It was fun but a LOT of work! So I’m a bit tired.

We have had a wonderful time with Jane Bullivant. We met her in England last time we went over there. And now she’s here in the States! She got here Weds. and will be leaving Thurs.
So, we are going to spend as much time with her and her two boys as possible.

Tomorrow is, “rest and go have fun” day. We are going to Lancaster for the day - Amish country!
So that’ll be fun …and interesting.
:D

Ok, I’ve got to run. I’ll talk to you all later!

Thanks for your comments!

Jun. 13, 2007 - Guess What?!
I am about to become a big brother - for the fourth time! No - Seriously! My mom is having another baby. We refer to him/her as “The Little Guy” right now. Everyone’s sorta hoping for a girl (except Luke and Levi). I’m going to be 18 years older than him/her. It’s amazing how Mom is having another one after 11 years and my parents are thinking about having even MORE beyond this one! I am really excited that we’re all having another baby. You know….Mom’s been having STRANGE cravings lately. She jumps around from ice cream to pickles to Taco Bell burritos. Her latest thing is BANANAS. Soon she’ll grow sick of those, too and start craving some new, random food. Things are going to be very different once the baby comes along. Just having a little one crawling around the house. We haven’t had a carseat in our car for years or purchased any baby items in a very long time. So this is very exciting!

He or she will be arriving December 15th, just before Christmas. It’s definitely a great Christmas present! And it’s a good thing we have one more space in our van - we’ll need it. We’re really really hoping for twins or triplets (Mom gets an ultrasound hopefully in Aug) which means we’d need a bigger van - or strictly bench seats rather than the buckets. Wouldn’t that be exciting if we actually had twins?

We’re leaving for PA tomorrow - will be gone for almost a week. Pray please that we will have a safe trip. I’ll post an entry when I get back.

Jun. 9, 2007 - After Gatorland…
We went to Holy Land Experience. (Orlando)

They had a number of re-enactments.

Which was kinda cool.

It was a really nice place. They had a LOT of the same plants that you’d fine in Israel.

Now this is cool!

This is a model of what Jerusalem looked like back in 69 AD.

There’s the Temple!

It was very well built as you can see.

Lots of detail!

And the instructor told us all about everything.

Here’s the Temple again with all the little people.

And then this guy gave a talk. My mom kept getting bumped by the people behind her which made her want to pull all her hair out.

Here is “The Temple”!

Oh and, back to the model…

They had the tomb on the model. See the stone?

Luke saw this guy and decided to ask him to play that horn for him. Looks like he’s about to get his head lopped off, huh?

After the guy gave Luke a history lesson.

He played it! Luke looks bored but I assure you he was not. That’s a normal “Lukey look.”

Oh and of course they HAD to try the rock climbing! Notice my sister shimmying up that rock faster than those two boys. GO, Julia!!

Julia got to go first…

While the boys waited patiently….

YAY! She made it to the top!

Now they all get to do it. And Julia is beating the boys as Levi tries frantically to beat her.

Beaver is catching up!

Yes! The ocean again! This time, DAYTONA BEACH!

Mr. Marcum Is REALLY good at body surfing! So, he gave us a few tips!

He used to surf ALL THE TIME back in Ca!

My sunburns were so severe from the last beach that my skin was super sensitive to light. So, I had to leave my shirt on. Oh well.

Luke’s having a great time!

The waves were WAY bigger here than at the last beach.

So after all that we went to GA. Not much to say on that for we were only there a few days (and I didn’t get any pictures).

:D

Yesterday we had the coolest storm come by!

And I got some REALLY good shots!

I took every one of these pictures! Sorry they’re so small.

I’m slightly disappointed by the lack of comments on my last entry (yes, I am whining for those who are wondering, particularly my mother). I mean, I went through all the trouble of posting a million pictures. The least thing you could do is pummel me with comments!

:D

Jun. 3, 2007 - Then We Went to the Other Beach House…

It wasn’t even a mile away from the first one.

This beach house was far nicer than the other one.

It had a pool for Luke to jump over!

Very comfortable

…and messy!

Very nice kitchen!

Dad and Levi unpacking or something.

This is where Levi and I slept.

The next day we went to GATORLAND!

Oooh, a gobbler!

The animals were so tame!

They had a few really neat shows!

And they called Dad down for one of them!!!

“Look down…

put your arms out…

and close your eyes!”

Oh, nasty!

Dad’s cheating!

He won’t even touch it!

Look at its pink legs. Man, that’s weird.

He’s got his mouth open!

That’s Levi feeding the birds.

Sorry, no more food.

These guys are just waiting ’til one of us falls in!

Is it just me, or do they all look like they have really dumb expressions on their faces?

I like this shot.

And this one too. Even though it’s kinda blurry.

Man, they’re so weird lookin’.

That’s a good one.

See the little fishies?

Still waiting.

It’s trying to jump out of the water for the chicken.

Yay, he got it!

These turtles are HUGE!

This is supposed to be their largest alligator.

Another very big turtle.

And another.

Don’t worry; there’s a layer of glass in between Julia’s finger and the deadly man-eating snake.

I think these are copperheads.

And I think this is a cottonmouth.

And, no, not a tire, but a rattle snake.

He just stood there, staring at me. So I guessed he must want his picture taken.

Mr. Marcum likes animals, as you’re about to see…

ESPECIALLY llamas!

I think they’re hungry.

Mr. Marcum is having fun.

A little too much fun!

Uuuh, Mr. Marcum? You’re not supposed to eat those. They’re for the animals.

….

No, really! That’s not people food! I’ll take you to burger king after we’re done if you’re that hungry.

OH, NO! Don’t do it!

Is that goat looking at me?

Dad has to show it who’s boss!

Good little goat. Submit to me.

That is disgusting!

Oooo, that’s pretty!

Come on, fan those feathers out!

Oh, well!

OH CROCKY! Look at the tough crocodile wrestler!

It actually almost bit his finger. He was kinda freaked ’cause it just snapped really fast at him.

Oooooo, ahhhhhh!

Wow, he’s brave! …(or really dumb - j/k)

You choose.

Uhhhh, that’s just crazy.

Hmmm, you don’t like crackers, huh?

(Disclaimer: I did not break the rules by feeding it.. However, (Ahem) Mr. Marcum did.)

Hey, Dude! We share the same name!

This little guy has quite the temper.

But they’re kinda cute!

Then he looked up at me and demanded my Cherry Coke!

He leaped on me and started running down my arm to my cup. And no, I’m not about to punch him!

He would not give up!

Every time I took the cup away from him, HE’D PECK ME!

Oh, please don’t “go” on me.

See? I took him away from my cup and stuck him on my shoulder and he PECKED ME!

Ok, fine! You win.

Golly, leave some for me.

Selfish!

Ok, I think you’ve had your fill!

Don’t eat me.

Mr. Marcum kept throwing crackers down at them.

They liked it and I got some cool shots!

That is cool!

See him landing?

They have a very large wingspan!

These guys were fighting!

It was fun to watch!

Wow! Look at Julia hold the mouth up from snapping Beav!

Man, look at Julia’s muscles!

Alright Mr. Marcum, you can get in there and pose too.

LOL! He is so funny!

That was a very fun day!

I will be posting about our stay over at the Dixons’ house when I get back. I’m leaving tomorrow for Atlanta, GA. I’ll post about it too.

Ok, so, I went through all the trouble of posting all these pictures! The least you can do is leave me a TON of comments!

And tell other people to come and leave me comments too!

May. 29, 2007 - And Then There Was Florida….

My sister Julia enjoying the waves…

Julia learning the rafting ropes from Mr. Marcum

Julia and Mr. Marcum displaying their catches —- wow, a rare yellow seal!

He doesn’t look like he feels so good…(Lukey)

He’s almost buried. Levi says here that he looks handsome. You decide…

The job’s done! Score!

Look at that horizon - truly a paradise. Jelly fish kept stinging us though…not so paradise there. We were really having to watch where we were swimming. Levi finally started screaming, STING RAY, STING RAY!!! So we all came running….

After it washed up on shore, we all started laughing. Had to get a pic of “Levi’s Stingray.”

Here’s his treasured sting ray - the catch of the day!

Here’s what you have all been waiting for: “The Mama.”

Boy can she ride those waves like a pro.

I’m the tugboat. Mom kept asking me to tug her up and down the coast.

Well, that is it for now. I have more pictures coming…stay tuned. Another beach house coming….

May. 16, 2007 - I’m Still Among the Living….
Ok, instead of writing one big entry about our trip at the end of it, I’m going to write a few as they happen. This being the first. :D
We left at 10:00AM Sunday morning (we were going to leave at 6:00AM – we should have planned for 2:00AM and then maybe we would have left by 6)!
We got to Tennehill Historic State Park, AL around 8:00 where we camped. Unfortunately we had to set the tents up in the dark. But after we got the tents up and fire going, we broke open the hotdogs and the marshmallows (or ‘dogs and ‘mallows as Luke calls them).
I forgot my sleeping bag of all things. Fortunately Julia brought an extra one but it was only 4ft long. :(
So I lay down with it in my tent and, oh man, the ground was so hard!
I love camping - especially rough, barely surviving, kind of camping. But this is was crazy! You can’t get any sleep on a bed of rocks! So I cheated. I went and slept in the van. :D
In the morning we broke the tents down and Dad made an excellent omelet with grilled tortillas. Mom does not like her picture taken, but she allowed one this time (said to say she looks all mad here - but wasn’t (just hates cameras). Dad was taking awesome care of her. He did all the cooking and everything). Wait til my next post though - I have pics of her in the ocean on an intertube!!! Stay tuned.

Isn’t Dad a good cook?

Our camp site was very lovely.

I bought a few throwing knives a while back. I really like them, but I don’t get much of a chance to throw them at home in the city. So, I took advantage of all the trees around our camp site.

We left there around 12:00 noon and headed south for Seaside, which is where we are now. We arrived here around 8:00PM last night.
Here area few pictures of the place.

Today was a real laid-back day. We just rested and drove around, looking at the scenery.
Our good friends the Marcums were going to join us for this trip. But only Mr. Marcum was able to come last minute. He just got here.
Ok, I got to go. Mom just made a yummy Mexican meal! :D :D :D
Another update and WAY more pictures coming soon! Wait till you see these beaches….

Any of you live down there? Maybe we can meet up somewhere.
We’re leaving at 6am tomorrow and here it is, already 12:00 (I gotta get to bed)!

I just thought I’d post really quick. I’m not ignoring you all. :D

NEWS: HSB will be fixed some time this week!!! We’ll be able to use Java script again (YAY)! We’re upgrading to a bigger server. So the site is going to be really fast now.

Apr. 26, 2007 - We Went to the Beach!

Ah, warp! I’m really mad right now! I spent a lot of time writing an entry about our trip to the ocean. I had lots of pictures and everything. But at the very end of the post I hit the back button and lost it all!

Boy, I’m not very thrilled right now!

This is going to be a real quick entry!

Yep, that’s the beach!

Levi and his prize seeshell.

The kids are trying to run as far out as they can before getting wet.

High-Tide! Run!

Now, aren’t I clever!

It kept out the water (kinda, not really)! Well, at least it kept out the sand!

Sorry, these pictures are a bit blurry.

I saw this clam lying on the beach. When I picked it up, it sucked itself back into it’s shell!

And WOULDN’T come out!

Neat background.

What is that???

It’s a puffer fish thing!

It got washed up onto the shore.

Sorry I’m not up to rewriting the whole thing.

But real quick, I’ll tell you where we were.

We went down to Charleston, SC to do some speaking.
And then drove up the coast into NC.

We had a lot of fun as a family!

I really enjoy going on road trips around and outside of the country.

Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us with you on all the speaking engagements.

Ok, I’m going to bed!

Apr. 19, 2007 - I have been insanely busy!

We went up to Chicago the 11th to meet with some of our staff. We got to stay at the AWAWA’s headquarters where Luke dropped the car keys down the elevator shaft. Fortunately Dad brought the extra set. After finishing our business in Chicago we started on back south towards Peoria for the Peoria Homeschool convention. There we met up with the Novaks! I got to see Eric again! It was awesome! I think the convention ended the 14th. So, we left Peoria thinking that we would stop by the Dixons before home. But then Dad got a call…. and it changed all the plans. We had to get home so that we could hook the trailer up and be in Louisville, KY, the next day to pick up some racks (newsstands) for our magazines. We drove straight home and the next morning Dad and Luke went and got them. We were so bummed because we were really looking forward to seeing the Dixons. While Dad and Luke were getting the racks, Mom emailed the Dixons and told them that we would be in Cincinnati the next day and that we’d love to stop by their place then. They emailed back saying that, that would be fine! So we were all excited again. The next morning my mom calls and says that we wouldn’t after all be able to make it. Awwww, I was so disappointed. But we loaded up the van and started on our way. BTW, this trip was to pick up even more racks. So, we’re driving along and on our way up there we decided that we would actually be able to stop by. LOL! This time it was for sure! After getting the racks we got back on the road and drove and drove and drove. We got there at around 1am! But we were so exited to be there! I got up at 7am to help Amanda and Jocelyn with the animals (not like I did much). :-) After we… or actually they, finished cleaning the horses and milking the goats we went back into the house where Luke already had the chess set out. He was determined to beat Jocelyn at chess (and he did)! But then she beat me… which doesn’t make sense ’cause I can cream Luke.

Needless to say, we had a wonderful time at their house and I hope we can go back soon!

Oh! And I got to hold their little newborn!
She is so cute!

Here are a few pictures:

Luke and Jocelyn, playing “THE BIG GAME!”

We all got to hold her!

She is ADORABLE!!!

Caleb is now a big brother! Look at his cute little face!

Ah, Jocelyn! You’re making her cry! JK!

Here are some pictures of all of us kids.

Both Amanda and Jocelyn posted about it. And since they’re both better writers than I am you may want to check out there blog.
;)
Oh! And it seems that Rachel posted about our stay as well!

P.S. I will respond to Joe’s comment soon …I hope (I haven’t forgotten about it).

Apr. 9, 2007 - YAY! My Astronomy Video is Almost Complete!

It took me FOREVER but I think it’s done!

To help you better understand my last post, I’ve built you an animated video!

Click on the green play-icon at the bottom of my site:

http://shatteringwindows.com/info.php

It’s very distorted in Fire Fox but works fine in Internet Explorer (still trying to fix it)!

I’ve spent a lot of time on it, trying to get everything perfect! So, please tell me what you think of it.
I had to reduce the quality for the web. So it may look kinda fuzzy. Another thing is that it’s sorta choppy. Keep in mind that this is only version 1.0. I may improve it later on.

Please take a look at my other blog. I wrote about what I’ve been up to.
Please go over and take a look.

OH! And I just got nominated for the Funniest Homeschool Blog!

And my mom got nominated for the Best Current Events, Opinions or Politics Blog.

Go vote for us both!
Thank you so much for all of your comments!!!

Mar. 30, 2007 - Astronomy!

Ever since I was nine I’ve always been fascinated with astronomy. So, I thought I’d share a little with you.

I might do several posts on astronomy (depending on the comments I get) but I’ll start with just one for now.

THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Our Solar System consists of:

1 star, the sun
9 planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and…. and…Eris!
65 known moons (the number always changes)
Thousands of asteroids
And less than 1,000 comets recorded

Billions and billions of years ago…
LOL! You won’t find any of that garbage in this post!

The sun is the largest body in our solar system. It has 1,000 times the mass of everything in our solar system added together! The sun is what keeps the solar system together. It’s the sun’s gravitational pull that keeps the planets, comets, and asteroids orbiting. The sun is VERY large. 100 earths could be placed side-by-side and it still wouldn’t reach from one end of the sun to the other. The sun is also very hot and bright, up to temperatures of 27,000,000 degrees!

The Solar System is so massive that using miles as a way to measure distances isn’t practical. You’d end up writing numbers like this: 150,000,000,000. So an easier way to express distance is to use a special measuring stick called an astronomical unit. The earth’s average distance (it wobbles from the moon’s gravitational pull. So, it’s always changing it distance) from the sun is equal to 1 astronomical unit or AU. The earth is 93,000,000 miles from the sun = 1AU. Pluto is 40 AU from the sun.

The Planets

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. So, it’s orbit is the smallest, taking it only 88 earth days to make one Mercury year. But its day is very long. It takes 59 earth days to make one day on Mercury.
Since mercury is the closest planet to the sun you can imagine it would be very hot! It’s so hot that no life could ever exist there. It reaches 800 degrees F in the day! You must remember that since this planet has such a long day it also has a long night. And at night its temperature gets as low as -280 F! Mercury has an extremely thin and unstable atmosphere. So, it’s surface is littered with craters.

Venus is nicknamed, “Earth’s Sister” because they are almost the same size. Unlike Mercury, Venus has a very atmosphere. The atmosphere is so dense that it would feel like you were under 3,000 feet of water! Its dense atmosphere acts like a blanket, not allowing any of the heat to escape, making it the hottest planet in our solar system! Mercury’s daytime average is 900 F!

Earth is the only planet with liquid water on its surface, and has an atmosphere of mostly nitrogen and oxygen. Earth is the only planet that contains life, almost as if it was designed that way, huh? *grin*

Mars is around half the size of Earth. Its year is almost twice as long and its day is exactly as long as Earth’s. It’s a very red planet because the soil is full of rusting iron. At times the temperature seems almost tolerable. During the day it’ll actually reach 50 degrees F at the equator. But at night it drops to a bitter -200 F. The Martian surface is very interesting. Mars holds the record for the largest mountain in our solar system, Olympus Mons. At the base it stretches 440 miles! And it reaches 78,000 feet into the Martian sky. Mars also has the record for the largest canyon in our solar system, Valles Marineris. This large canyon is 1, 860 miles long and some points drop down as low as 5 miles!

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. It is a gas planet. That means that there is no hard surface. The only hard service you’ll find are on the rocks in the ring around the planet. Just a big blob of thick gas! It is thought that its core is made up of extremely dense slushy liquid.
As you move away from the core it leaves the liquidized hydrogen and into the atmosphere of helium. Jupiter is a very dangerous place. There are storms there that would totally engulf three of our earths and these huge tornado-like blizzards last for hundred of years. And lightning-bolts that arc hundreds of miles grace the landscape.

Saturn is my favorite planet (besides Earth). It has huge glorious rings that are mainly made up of water ice, rocky chunks of dust, metal, and a little bit of gas. Like Jupiter, the planet is made up of gas. But things are a lot calmer on Saturn. It’s not nearly as hot or as dense as Jupiter. Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system.

Uranus is four times the size of the earth and is made up of mainly hydrogen. Uranus has a very thin ring, something like the one on Jupiter. Uranus is amazing because it is the only planet that “lays over.” What I mean by this is that Uranus orbits the sun sideways as if it were rolling around the sun. Its “north” pole points in to the sun at all times and its “south” pole is constantly pointing out away from the sun! I wonder what a day would be like on Uranus.

Neptune is the last gas planet in our solar system. Its atmosphere is similar to that of Uranus. But it’s far more active. The winds there blow at around 1,300 MPH! There was a hurricane on Neptune that was made up of water, ice and methane gas. It was so massive that it could be seen from space! This very dangerous hurricane ended in 1998. It is thought that both Neptune and Uranus have a solid core the size of our Earth!

Pluto is not a planet!
I would have to devote a whole entry to explain why Pluto is not a planet.
So then, what’s planet number nine?

Eris! Also known as “the tenth planet” until Pluto was “de-planeted,” Eris used to be called UB313. This planet is so new (discovered in 2003 and given its name in September of 2006) that there is not a lot known about it. Eris is very similar to Pluto so it wouldn’t surprise me if they consider it not to be a planet in a few years.

There are a lot of other interesting objects in our solar system, such as moons that have atmospheres and rocks that seem to possess the conditions necessary to hold life. And I might write about these things if i get a few positive comments, even though I expect I’m just going to get a lot of, “You’re boring,” and “I hate you,” and “*snore*”. LOL!

There is still a lot to be discovered.

In 1992 we thought that Jupiter had only 16 moons. If you look on the Internet, some sites say 22. Others say 28. I have a really neat program called Celestia (Linux program, but you can get it for Windows for free) that allows me to explore the universe and it says that the last known number is like 63 or something. So, we’re always finding more. I’d encourage you to study this chart. It’s pretty accurate.

Our universe is so complicated. Our solar system is so delicate. If we were even one percent closer to the sun our oceans would boil. And if we were one percent farther our oceans would freeze solidly. There is no way it could have happened by chance. Only a fool would say that our vast, mysterious universe is not created. And if it was created, doesn’t that mean that there is a Creator? Psalms 14.1

Please comment.

-Paul

EDIT: It would actually take more than one percent to boil or freeze an ocean.
Please comment on my neighbor’s blog.
And my brother Luke started blogging again.

Oh yeah and what do you believe?

Geocentric or Heliocentric?

Mar. 27, 2007 - Of much fun!

I got back from the Indianapolis/Cincinnati trip at 4am yesterday!

We had a lot of fun! We started packing the 22nd (my birthday) and left at 5am on the 23rd!
We got to Cincinnati around 12:00 but it took us another hour to find the convention.

After the convention we were so beat we just grabbed a hotel there in town. After changing into something more casual we went down to the lobby to ask for a restaurant. A couple to the right of us was asking for a good restaurant too. But the worker could hardly understand them because they were from Russia.

After we got the directions we noticed that they were having a hard time understanding the same directions so we offered for them to just follow us. And they did! After we spent an hour looking for a parking spot we went in to eat.

Over dinner we learned he was a computer programmer for the Soviet Union.
They didn’t have personal computers back then so he programmed mainframes.

It was very interesting.

After dinner they followed us back to the hotel where we went to our separate rooms to get some sleep.

The next day we got up and started for Indianapolis! We got there around 11am and finished the convention at 6:30pm.

The whole thing was a lot of fun!

Please take a look at my geeky blog!

:)

EDIT: It’s Shaiya’s BIRTHDAY today!!!
Please go wish her a happy bithday!
She’s 14!

Happy Birthday, Shaiya!

Mar. 12, 2007 - Happy Belated Birthday, MOM!
I’ll write about what we did for my mom’s birthday!

We left on the 9th for Chattanooga. After driving for 7 hours we finally got to our hotel!

After unloading our suitcases into the hotel we went to IMAX!!!!!!!
The IMAX Theater is AWESOME! It’s like a regular theater but with a HUGE HUGE HUGE screen! After we left the theater we walked all around downtown. We walked several blocks before we finally came across TGI Fridays (we were so hungry)!
After walking around some more we got back in the car and drove to the hotel.
We didn’t get to bed till 2am cause my dad and brother insisted on finishing their chess game.

The next morning we walked around some more and I got a really nice throwing knife!
After all that we went home. And I threw my new knife for a while!

Well that’s it!

Oh, and DO NOT PUSH THE RED BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(You’ll never forgive your self!!!!)

Mar. 7, 2007 - Boy, Have I Been Busy!

Ok, a quick update on what I’ve been doing.

My site has been eating up all my time lately. Please take a moment to look at it!
www.ShatteringWindows.com
There are three links in the thick blue bar. I’ve been working on the Information & Education one.

I’ve uploaded a video of the movie at the end of my mom’s speech (if you care to take a look)!

Joe has been helping me (he’s awesome)!
He has done a great job! The site wouldn’t be up without his help!
We both designed it (even though he did most of that). He created it and uploaded just about everything! He did all of the “scripting” (Java, HTML, AJAX, CSS, and more)!
He is very good at what he does!

And he’s not weird (even though he thinks cream cheese is sour and not sweet – look at his most recent post)!

LOL!

Today I went with my mom to my uncle’s house so I could be dropped off and so she could pick up my auntie, Coie, Ryann, and Emmiko (they went to a baby shower).
I got dropped off so I could help my uncle build his greenhouse and to shovel manure!
It was worth it though ‘cause he bought cookie dough ice-cream for us (Bo Bo, Dippy, James, and I). After stuffing our faces with ice cream we played Game Cube till everyone got home.

Fun day!

I’ll post more on it later but I thought I’d mention it now.
We are going on a road trip to Ohio! There’s a convention up there and we have a booth.
And the Badgleys might be there!
I think it’s in two weeks, but I’m not quite sure.

That’s about it! I hope I didn’t bore you all to sleep!

G’night!

Feb. 26, 2007 - Good news and Bad news

Of course, I’ll start with the bad news.
I threw up.

That’s right, I threw up four times!
My family got sick about three days ago. We went to Atlanta Bread Company where I had their ABC Special with extra peppercinis. I went to bed that night feeling fine. But after showering the next morning my stomach started gurgling all weird. We went up to help a friend build his new house but I was completely useless ‘cause I was dying of pain. So, I think around 6pm I threw my extra peppercini ABC special up and then again and again. I threw more up than I ate!

Anyhow, everyone seems to be doing fine now but my mom.

Now with the good news!

My birthday is March 22 but as an early birthday present my parents bought me a DS Lite!!!!!

This thing is *SO* awesome!
It has WiFi so I can IM and play multi player games with people across the globe! I can put my MP3s, movies, and pictures on it.

And it plays some really fun 3D games!

It really is a lot of fun.

If anyone else has one let me know so we can set up a game.

Feb. 19, 2007 - The Ocean!

Three days ago (on the 16th) after waking up, I was told by my mom to go pack my bag ‘cause we’re going to the ocean.

….What?
The ocean! YAHOO! So, I ran downstairs to throw some stuff in a backpack. Oh, then I realized I didn’t own a backpack. Ok, I didn’t want to haul a big suitcase around for just one set of clothes. I took a look around and noticed an empty sleeping bag jacket (gives you an idea of how messy our basement is). I grabbed the empty sleeping bag case, threw all my junk in there and then ran back up.
By this time everyone was ready. We all got into the car and took I26 all the way to Charleston, SC. We stopped several times (for snacks and such) that… well, we didn’t get there till dark. It was too dark to see the ocean or to do anything for that matter. So, we went ahead and got some sleep at the Holiday Inn on the beach. I got up the next morning around 8:30 and noticed the sun blaring its warm light across the big beautiful ocean through our window and into my eyes. Then I learned from my mom that Dad took Julia down to the beach. When Beav heard my mom explain this to me, he too wanted to go “seashell hunting.” So, I put my jacket on, expecting it to be freezing and took Levi to the beach, leaving Mom and Luke in the hotel. After going down eight floors we went outside and I noticed that it wasn’t cold at all! So I took my jacket off and got some pictures while Levi picked up some seashells.

we were on the 8th floor. 8 windows from the left (in the shadow).

view from our window.

After having our fun at the beach we decided that we better get going if we wanted to do any sightseeing. We still had an eight hour drive in front of us. So, we checked out of our hotel around 11:00. We started driving around the city of Charleston looking for a crab shack. Instead we found a HUGE aircraft carrier (that’s a Navy boat that carries planes). So, we bought tickets and went inside.

It was massive! They had entire planes inside!

After looking around the inside we went up on top. It was one big landing strip!

Here are some pictures of our family (it was cold and windy).

We spent a few hours there, which allowed us to see only see one fourth of the ship (it was that large)! We left around 4:00 to find a restaurant (we were starving). Finally, we came upon Longhorn which was pretty good! After waiting an hour to get our food we ate and were out and on the road by 6:00. We drove and drove and drove stopping only a few times for the occasional bathroom break. It was dark by the time we got into NC. We noticed that it was snowing and the snow was sticking. This worried my dad a bit for we still had the Smokey’s to cross and if it’s sticking here then it’s blizzarding there! Well, sure enough the higher in elevation we went the more the snow would fall. It was around 11:00 when we started to find less and less snow plows and more and more snowfall. It was around 11:30 that we hit the summit but not with out a fight! We slid a few times and my mom was sure we were going to get stuck. But we didn’t. We made it through the mountains by 12:00. Dad says if we would have waited just one more hour our two wheel drive van wouldn’t have made it through. We finally got home around 1:00 am.

Boy, that was fun!

Please take a look at Coies blog (it’s her birthday).
You can find pictures of her at my uncle’s blog.

Please take a look at my Geeky Blog.

Feb. 15, 2007 - Coie’s Poem
I was looking through my box of my “junk” this morning when I came across a very….. (I better watch what I say here)
very… nice *letter from my best friend/cousin. She was only nine at the time (which means I was eight).

After reading it, I thought to myself, I should post this on my blog!

So, here it is….
(this is exactly how she wrote it, spelling, grammar, and so on – well, except for it was in her penmanship)

Dear Paulie,

How are you? I’m fine, but I think I’m going to be sick in a couple of days now!
(yes, yes, yes, YES!) excuse me I just had to do that! Theres no reason to fell sorry for me, though, I’ll be in heaven! Actully I’ll still be on earth but it WILL be fun! Have any more bunnys died? Sorry it took me so lang to write, T’d forgotten I had your address, I know, I know ‘ excuses, excuses’ but it’s true! I wish you still lived with us, I really miss you. I’m putting on a play based on Samantha learns a lesson, Its an American girl book. I’ll be Nellia because now I have short hair just like her’s. don’t worry it’s only to my chin. Don’t beleave me? Ask your mom! Tell Jessie and BABY that I love them.
And tell Lukie and Beaver Levi “Hi”. Hope to see you later! God bless.

Love Coie Igarashi

Now you have to understand, she wrote this right after we moved from her house (our two families lived in the same house for a while) to a neighboring house. So when she said “I wish you still lived with us, I really miss you.” it’s like, Ok, then walk across the street and come see me!

If I were to flip the page over, you would see this lovely poem…

You’re a cousin that Loves a cousin that cares
Your a cousin that’s funny you’re a cousin that shares

I’m glad God put you earth to be my cousin - (as if that’s my sole purpose)
You’d fine a friendship like our one in a dozen - (that’s not very rare)

Our friendship is like a beautiful rose.
And each and every day it grows and grows and GROWS

The good adventure we have had are probably millions
Actullaly its probably closer to natillions!

Best Cousins

Paulie Suarez
Coie Igarashi.

That’s the whole thing!
Coie and I have been best friends since birth and I hope our relationship will continue till we’re both dead.

Feb. 12, 2007 - What fun!
Two days ago (on the 10th) was the big birthday bash/dance/thing. It was put on by the Igarashi’s mainly to celebrate Coie’s birthday. There were gobs of people - somewhere between 100 to 200 people, in fact! And I have to honestly say that I really enjoyed it even though it was all about dancing (and yes, I danced). It actually isn’t all that bad - it’s pointless, but not all that bad. I used to have a perfect hatred for acting like a pointless idiot but I suppose it’s not something to be despised after all. (dancing, not being a pointless idiot).

Even though everyone says I didn’t dance, I actually did, more so than most others!

Anyhow, we all had a great time. Especially Tim… he had a little to much fun. Amanda and Jocelyn were there too. It was a lot of fun seeing them again. Hopefully they’ll make it to the next one…

Oh yeah, how insane is that? We’re already planing ANOTHER one! And we’re expecting MORE people to show up. It’s in October (a long way away).

The whole event was a blast and my local friends and I are learning that dancing is for guys too!

Jan. 21, 2007 - Amputating Toes and Shattering Windows

I had my toenail amputated!

…Ok, maybe that’s not the best way to start a blog post but it’s true! I had a very infected in grown toe nail. Yuck. The doctor said that it’s one of the worst he’s seen. And oh, I’m such a baby when it comes to shots. Most kids fear them but get over it before they get to be my age. Not me, I fear the needle! As they stuck me with the first needle to numb me up for the operation I tensed up and got real hot and sweaty… ridiculous huh?….yeah I know. Anyhow they saw that I wasn’t taking it so well so they (notice that I say they – it took a doctor to do the work and a nurse to keep my mind off the pain) started talking about this cowboy that was in the other day that got his toenail amputated and he kept saying that he just wanted to put his cowboy boots on …hmm, Yeah right! That’s a weird story. That’s probably what they tell all the 6 and 7 year olds.

Anyhow, it’s getting better.

Well we finally got moved in! But not without the help of my uncle (which is JenIg’s husband)!
He was able to get us moved into our new house in 3 days and there was a lot of stuff!

I’m thrilled because my site is up!!!!
It has only been up a small time now and it is not even near done. But it’s up! I recommend viewing it through FireFox if you have it but Internet Explore works ok. Just go to www.ShatteringWindows.com Like I said it’s not even close to the finished product. The reason for it’s existence is to educate those who have heard but don’t know much about Linux. There will also be a store to buy geek items and a download center. But none of this would be here if i didn’t have Joe’s help. Most of the work you see was done by JoeM. I met Joe over HSB and ever since we’ve been pretty good friends he’s really good at web design and programming with CSS, HTML, PHP, and Java Script. He has done a fine job and I’m very grateful for his help. Please check his site out at www.shop-at-joes.com. And visit his blog it’s JoeM. I still need help on a few things so if you know any scripting languages or artistic ideas please map them out in whatever program you have weather it be a design in Paint or on FrontPage please send them to me at pauljr@thehomeschoolmagazine.com

Thanks

Nov. 2, 2006 - *whistle* Not starting that again!

Ok, it’s been about 20 days since my last post and I have a good reason…

I’ve been busy!

LOL
To be more specific, I’ve been unpacking the car from our two-week trip, preparing our house for guests and shopping for the barn dance.

I’ll tell you a little about what I’ve been doing.
After checking out of the hotel, we went up into the St. Louis Arch. It’s 630 feet tall!
That was cool!

Then we went and met up with the Ryans (JayFromCleveland). We ate at a Mexican restaurant and had fried ice-cream. Yumm!
We left around 12:00 midnight, so we didn’t get to much farther than Cleveland.
The next morning, we went down to Virginia to see the Austins. After spending a few hours with them, and eating some GREAT pizza, we headed home.

After unloading the car, we started to clean and prepare the house for a (not so English) Englishman, Mr. Garrison (Garrisongang). He was here for the last 3 days. We were all very glad that Mr. Garrison was coming ‘cause he brought Cadburys! Yumm (that’s the best chocolate in the world)!

He showed us his “Scottish Sock Dance” (you might find videos of it on my aunt’s blog) (JenIg).
LOL

Now we’re getting ready for the barn dance (it’s on the 4th). I don’t really get into dancing that much, especially barn dancing so, we’ll see how that goes.

Ok it’s late… good night!

Oh! Please check my scooter out (it’s for sale)!

Oct. 10, 2006 - Off to a good start!
Alright, we’re here in St. Louis and I’m looking out the window, and I can see the St. Louis Arch. We’re in a pretty nice hotel with a great view; we’ve driven through many times but we’ve never had time to stay and look around. So, we’ll be doing that tomorrow. We left yesterday and we traveled for almost 12 hours (I don’t know why it took so long), and when we got here (in our hotel) my dad realized he didn’t bring his suitcase. So, he got up early this morning and spent some time at Wal-Mart. LOL. While my dad was shopping I went downstairs to get my mom and sister some breakfast to bring back up to the room. So, I got them some pancakes and eggs. I then went over to the “Syrup Machine” and started pumping out syrup into these little cups. I then start heading to the other end of the building where you get the drinks and stuff. As I’m putting some cups of O.J. on the tray (take note, that I was in line with a lot of people), all of my syrup cups spill over in and on top of my shoe. It was about 8:45 A.M., and I had just gotten up a moment before, so I didn’t have any socks on. I just slipped them on and went down for food. So, I have all this syrup in my shoe and all these people looking at me thinking, “what an idiot,” and I have to go all the way back to the syrup machine for more syrup with everyone cracking a smile that seemed to say, “Oh! He hasn’t had enough, now has he?” Boy, what a drag!

Oh well, the rest of the trip is going just fine! My aunt and uncle are on their way up with my dad’s suitcases and I just pulled my shoes out of the hotel dryer. We’re about to leave to the St. Louis Homeschoolers Group ‘cause my parents are speaking there, so I gotta get!

I’ll post more on my trip as it goes later.

P.S. If you haven’t yet, please read my last post, below.
Thanks!

Paul

Oct. 1, 2006 - I died for six months but now I’m back for good!!!!!!!
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!
Might have been your first response. But it’s for good now.
I’m here and alive and I will not allow this “you’re a Multicellular Microorganism in the TTLB Ecosystem” (look at the very bottom of this page).

So now that I’m here, what am I going to talk about? Well, my trip to England was so awesome and the people I met were so cool that I would use up all the space on my blog to tell about it. I met a lot of neat people there (look at my last post’s comments).

No, don’t go! I know this is a long post and writing isn’t my favorite subject, so obviously I have something important to say! :)

I think I’m going to start over on a lot of things…
I’m starting a couple of businesses so I’ll be re-doing my blog. It will be more professional, I hope.
I’m looking for… helpers, business partners, and anyone knowledgeable in some of the areas I am about to mention. Since this is HomeschoolBlogger.com, naturally there are a lot of homeschoolers. Homeschoolers are very smart to say the least and I’m not talking about the seven or so subjects (trust me, I can’t spell squat). I’m talking about the way they think, unlike private or heaven-forbid, public schoolers. We homeschoolers have an advantage; we’re at home! We have access to our parents for advice at all times, and we have un-wasted time, if we’re wise (go to my mom’s blog to hear all about homeschool vs. public). My point is, is that we can think! I’m 16 and I already know what I want to do for a living and not only know what I want to do, but I’m already doing it! (it’s geek stuff to0 hard to explain right now) But the point in me saying all this is because I’m looking for people to help me get a few things started. Like I stating above, I’m looking for short term and long term partners.

I like the whole marketing world; I like learning how businesses work. And after a few years of educating myself in OS’s and …more computer and geek stuff and a lot of help from my mom (marketing genius) I’m almost ready to launch some of these businesses. All I need now is help from some like-minded homeschoolers.

I need someone that knows a LOT about web design and I don’t mean someone that can build a simple website (or I would do it). I need someone WAY smarter than me. Someone that can build a site and set up a store and all the rest. I need someone that can tell me what to do and what to buy to get it all up and going. I already bought www.PaQilix.com and www.ShatteringWindows.com. The paqilix one will have the store on it and the shattering windows one will be created for the purpose of giving free info about my favorite subject (Linux). It has to be professional and easy to navigate. I don’t have any money to offer right now, just enough to get my business off the ground, but I’ll be willing to trade your service and brains for free ads on my site (when it’s up), and help from me and the community of helpers that I get for whatever business or business plan you might have now. My good friend JoeM is heading up the Paqilix site right now; he’s the one getting it off the ground and helping me set up a small store. But I still need lots of help.

The sites aren’t the only things I need help on (even though that’s the biggest part of it). I need help in marketing and getting the word out there. If you have any ideas please contact me by my cell 530 906 1856 or just leave a comment about your great idea or a way you might be able to help.

I know there’s a lot of geeks, web programmers, marketers, and an endless amounts of brains here at HSB. I need all of your help!

And please spread the word about this on or off this blog site. Thanks and have a great …night!

Paul

Feb. 19, 2006 - hmmm…
Ok, I know that I promised that my next post would be devoted to my quilt (the one my cousin coie is doing all the work on)
But I haven’t been quilting lately (shame on me). Actually, the geekier (I mean GURUer) side of me has been getting all the attention. A while back, my mom got a new nice laptop, so, obviously I inherited the poor crashed little guy (the old laptop - the one that has been dropped at least a hundred times…*ouch*)
I had to take him under my wing. Anyhow, I mentioned that it had crashed. So lately, I’ve been helping him out a little.
I reinstalled windows and upgraded him to professional. Well, when I got little buddy up and running, I noticed that he was missing very important drivers (the hardware’s software) like my WLAN driver (wireless card), and multimedia driver (VERY important), and others. The poor little guy was suffering from internal injuries.
So, I thought I’d just go online and download the correct drivers - big problem! I didn’t have the driver for the card that I needed to get on the internet. The only way I could get the driver was to get on the internet. Boy, you can see my problem. Needless to say, it took me three nights to fix little buddy. Now he’s running loyally and he’s been my little buddy ever since.
Anyhow, check out my cousin’s blog.
It’s her birthday today!

I’ll give you a small update of what I’ve been doing lately.

Basically, I’ve been busy helping my uncle and aunt move, paintballing, shooting my Winchester 22 rifle and my dads 410 shotgun (fun), and quilting.

…Yes, I said quilting. I’m not very good, but at least I can do it! I’ll post pictures and talk more about that in my next post. :)

Oct. 18, 2005 - My DVD Player is ALIVE…
Today I got up and made eggs, bacon and blueberry muffins. I made it for Julia since she turned nine today. Even my mom loved my food! Tonight we head over to the Igarashi’s because Coie and Uncle Geoff just got back yesterday from California after a month of being gone. We are going to take a cake over there that Julia and I are baking together for her birthday, too. Last night I took apart our old DVD player and discovered I could make the drive open and close just right, so that the thing actually CRAWLS across the floor. I love technology…. (sing it with me).

I can’t believe how fast our lake is going down. The neighbors say that every winter the lake gets so low it looks like a river. Great fishing - all the fish are concentrated. So I went out yesterday and looked across the lake or “river” and saw dozens of fish hopping out of the water, and I was even able to wade in and grab one. Unfortunately it slipped out my hand before I could take it home to Mom to cook up. I can’t wait til we get our poles out of storage. I want to start raking in some of those fish. Not like my mom WILL cook them up, or clean them, or even touch (or smell) it. I’ll have to catch it, clean it and then cook it. Maybe then she’ll eat it. Maybe not.

Well, better go start on that cake. So until next time, Yxpu signing off.
